Rindan of Teutatwen, Book 2
While recovering from the accident that nearly took his life, something odd happens to Rindan. Every night while he sleeps, his spirit leaves his body, and in that form, a cruel voice harasses him. His astral body roams his remote island, but cannot pass the boundary to the sea. In his waking hours, he waits for the day he can leave his remote island and go in search of the haunting lass he met in the Otherworld. But first, he must train up his new little brother, Indris, to take his place bird hunting on the cliffs.
Isolba, in her guise as Indris, works hard to become one of the islanders, though they only see her as an uncanny lad with spiritual powers. She is desperate for Rindan’s love, but must remain beneath her disguise for fear for her life. Her fear becomes realized when her old clan visits the island. She takes refuge in the mysterious fairy house and discovers not only its otherworldly magic, but finds Rindan has his own magical gift.
Over a long summer, Rindan teaches Isolba how to climb the cliffs, collect eggs, and slaughter fowl. When he and his friends plan to climb Stac Worth and claim their manhood, the island lasses take notice. Rindan is pursued by more than one suitress, and despite his disinterest, he wonders if he will never find his true love. Isolba becomes jealous and despairs over her situation. Once again, her friendly spirit hound comes to her aid.
Though Isolba proves to everyone how skilled she can be at both hunting and healing, her world unravels. Her longing seeps through her disguise, and her subconscious begins to betray her. Rindan, long oblivious to the truth, wonders if Indris may not be a young lad after all. Will the young lovers find each other? Or will Isolba’s enemies find her first?
Teeming with supernatural forces, Celtic Paganism, and romance, Rindan of Teutatwen is the definition of escapism.
