Introducing "The Isles" Series

I’m pleased to announce the upcoming release of my debut book series. The first three books follow the stories of Isolba, the daughter of the clan chief, and Rindan, a skilled cragsman, and will be released in 2025.

In this generational saga, the doomed inhabitants of the Perrotian Isles, far off the coast of Scotland, seek lost love, spiritual awakening, and a cure for the curse that follows their bloodline.

From a young age, I always hoped to be an author and illustrator, so spent my free time crafting stories and drawing my characters and scenes. At twelve, I wrote a story about a young noblewoman who escapes her home and rescues a young peasant from certain death. Inspired by the bravery of Joan of Arc, I had my main character hide behind the guise of a boy to avoid being caught by her family. In high school and college, this story became four novels that painstakingly evolved over the years until I set the books aside for a graphic design career and motherhood.

However, the stories continued to haunt me and I always hoped to revive them. At last, with my children in school and my career path pointed toward writing as more than a hobby, I began the rewrite in 2020. I knew I could not use my original text and had to start over from scratch. Though I loved my characters and the basic premise, the books as a whole required too much fine tuning that it was better to begin fresh. Inspired by my Scottish genetics and my direct family line back to Clan Armstrong, a border reiving family in Southern Scotland, I chose the setting as a group of fictional islands off of Scotland’s coast.

This new series little resembles my original work (for good reason), and though it always held supernatural elements, I expanded the model to include druid magic, Celtic Paganism, and myth. Taking place in the Middle Ages, the clans featured in these stories are not yet Christianized and follow their original faith. Their world runs parallel to the real, physical world and is not a separate realm. Though it mostly operates as a separate world within itself, it sometimes crosses over into true history, blurring the lines between magic and reality.

What I initially planned as one book featuring Isolba and Rindan grew into three books: "Isolba of the Isles", "Rindan of Teutatwen", and "Cormac’s Kingdom". The following books will feature Isolba’s descendants with a possible prequel and companion novels as well. It's an enormous undertaking, one that will take many years to complete.

I look forward to providing you with regular updates as I prepare to release each book and write the books to follow. Thank you for visiting!
